RS200 & RS400 Eastern Championships

Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th June 2008

Greystones Sailing Club

  1. Rules: This Series will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing, the RS Class Rules in force at the time of the event, this Notice of Race (Except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions), and the Sailing Instructions. In the event of a conflict, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions shall take precedence.1.1   Alterations of Racing rulesThe Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) may be modified in accordance with RRS 86.1(b).
  2. Advertising:  The event is designated Category “C”.
  3. Eligibility and Entry
    • 3.1   General:  All helms must be paid up members of the RS Class Association.
    • 3.2   Eligible Boats:  All boats must comply with specifications for the class and may be asked to produce evidence of compliance.
    • 3.3   Identification:  Subject to approval of the Race Committee a boat chartered or loaned  for the event may declare at the time of entry or registration a sail number which may be difference from the registered number of the hull provided that the number declared shall not be the sail number of any other boat competing in the series (Reference RRS 77, Appendix G) 
  4. Classification: The ISAF Sailor Classification Code will apply.
  5. Entry Procedure and Fees:  Entries will be accepted in the club up to 11.00hrs on the morning of the event. Entry Fee €XX per boat before 7th JuneA late fee of €XX per boat shall apply thereafter Entry Forms with the appropriate entry fee to: Simon Herriott, C/o Greystones Sailing Club, North Beach, Greystones, Co. Wicklow
  6. Social Event:  A BBQ will be available to all competitors after sailing on Saturday at a reasonable cost, details will be available at registration. All competitors are welcome to attend.
  7. Entry Disclaimer:  It is the competitor’s decision to enter the event or to start in any race. Competitors shall accept that their participation in the event is at their sole exclusive risk in every respect. By way of entry to the event competitors shall indemnify the RS Class Association, Greystones Sailing Club, their officers, members, servant and agents in respect of all claims and demands of whatever nature which may be made upon them in  connection with or howsoever arising from their participation or intended participation in the series.
  8. Insurance:  All boats shall have third party insurance cover of not less than €1,500,000 (or the equivalent in any other converted currency) for any incident. All owners/competitors who sign the entry from are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover. Owners/competitors not holding this cover shall withdraw their entry.
  9. Registration:  Registration will take place from 9:00hrs to 11:00hrs on Saturday 14th June in the bar of Greystones Sailing Club.
  10. Schedule of Races:  The series shall comprise of a total of 6 races, with 3 races attempted each day. The first warning signal each day will be made as follow:-
    • Saturday 14th June – 13:00hrs·
    • Sunday 15th June – 11:00hrs 
    • No warning signal shall be made after 14:30hrs on Sunday 15th June.
  11. Scoring and Prizes: The low point scoring system shall apply. Two Races are required to constitute a series. Where 4 or more races have been completed, a boats score will be the total of her scores excluding her worst score. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the event by the organising authority. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each class. In addition, prizes shall be awarded for 1st junior helm in the RS200 class and 1st lady helm in the RS200 class.
  12. Measurement : Boats should comply with any measurement requirements of the RS class Association. 
  13. Sailing Instructions: Sailing instructions will be available from 9:00hrs on Saturday 14th June at registration.
  14. Courses:  The courses sailed will be as described in the Sailing Instructions.Â
